Honors Forum

We got now started in our honors forum with the real task of working together as a group and do reseach on a topic which we soon will have to talk about in front of the class.
The Main Topic is the "Imigration, Alienation, and Social Stratification" in France.
The Topic of the group I am in is about the Governmental Ideals and Social Stratification. In my opinion this means that my group shall talk at first about how the Government of France is build with the Executive, Legislative, Judiciary branch and the President on top. Also I think the comparison on how the French Government differs from the American one is important.
The social stratification is in my eyes how the money plays a role in society and also where the people come from.
These are just little ideas on what we could do with this topic and I'm sure it will change when we have our first get together in my group. It will be really interesting and I will learn a lot of new things throughout this time.

The Dining Room play

Well I went on Friday to go see the Dining Romm play. First I did not know at all what to expect from it since I didn't even know what it was about.
Well I went in there and wondered a little bit about the set up of the stage. Basically it was a dining room with table chairs and old furniture, and the people visiting this play where seated around the stage.
The play started indirectly about 15 min befor the original play started. People who work, eat, clean the dining room came one after a nother and each stayed there for a while like a statue and it amused me how new visitors came in looking at the stage and probably wondering why they put statues up there^^
What I thought was really nice about this beginning was the musik. It was a really nice and soft piano play and I enjoyed it a lot.

Well then at half past the play finally started. It was a quite intersting play it was about the different people that come into the diningroom. People who wanted to sell it, who had dinner there, who remembered the past of it, or those who had a party in the Dining Room.
It was funny and sad and the thing that I probably liked the most about this play was the emotion changes. For example at one point there was a dad who talked in the Dining Room to his son about his soon coming death which was really sad. And then the next moment as soon as they finished their conversation, there came someone else in and had a party in the Dining Room everybody happy.
Also throughout the play where hidden funny, shocking and sometimes sad things hidden where you had to listen carefully in order to understand or get them.

The funniest part in the play was a birthday party that took place in the Dining Room. The "kids" who, judging from their behaviour, seemed to be around the age of like 6, where played by adults which was really funny since they played the role so good.

So all in all this was a really great play and everybody who didn't go missed out a lot ;)

Juggling Group

(from top left: Olga & Vova Galchenko 10 Club passing; Fire Poi juggling; Anthony Gatto 5 balls and 5 rings juggling; Scott VanderStouw Light Diabolo Juggling)

Hey everybody,
I'm trying to find some people who would be interested in either learning how to juggle or who can already juggle. We could meet like once or twice a week get together and juggle then. I can teach you all the basics and much more if you are interessted.
My equipment is right now only 9 balls and 5 rings. If you will continue learning then you might consider getting some own balls ;)
But for the first few times to try out or so you don't have to bring anything but a good mood, and well fun :)

Well many of you ask first of all what I mean by juggling. I mean either ball, ring, club, poi or diablo juggling.
You probably think of it as like three ball juggling in only one pattern and how I would just teach that, but no, I mean real sport juggling.
To give you an better idea of what I mean by this here are a few great Videos of some great jugglers:

Alex Duhig a great juggler, and I saw his first video as my first juggling video ever.

3 ball juggling at it's best, it's not only about high numbers ;)

If you want to see more just ask me and I can give you some vids ;)

About myself: I just started juggling this January, up until almost 5 balls I hadn't seen any jugglers, then I found out that there where great juggling Videos on the net and watched and learned from them. Shortly befor I returned to germany I went on a little juggling convention in Springdale where I really did not learn much.
Later then in Germany I went to another Juggling Convention in Ludwigsburg, where I met the second world best juggler Thomas Dietz (German) and a few days later after my birthday I went to a juggling show of the worlds best Juggler Anthony Gatto, who even gave me as a present his newest DVD with the worlds hardest juggling tricks^^ (If you are interested we could watch it sometime.)

-I can do a lot of tricks with three balls and also can juggle three balls with my eyes closed.
-I can do a lot of 4 ball tricks too, and I consider 4 balls as my warming up for my training since three balls kind of is just only little play anymore for me.
-I can do 5 balls the standard pattern and a few tricks a little bit. This is also the thing that I work on right now the most.
-I can do a little bit more that a flash(all balls one after another thrown up in the correct pattern and caught again) with 6 balls (actually 16 catches was my record^^)
-I flashed 7 balls after a good warming up, If you don't believe me just ask my roomate^^
-And I flashed 4 balls in one hand.

-I can juggel 3 rings and do a few tricks with them, thought I never really can practice much with them
-I can juggle 4 rings fairly well
-I flashed 5 rings.
-And I flashed 3 rings in one hand

-I can do 3 clubs without tricks fairly well, but they are in Germany so no practice with them...

Juggling is not only a lot of fun but is also suppose to help you improve your learning^^

So if you are interested than just email me and I hope that we get some people together :)
My email is cramer-m-049 at mssu dot edu.
